About WENZEL LOGISTICS

Wenzel logistics GmbH is a medium-sized, Europe-wide operating transport and logistics company with around 130 employees and four locations in Premstätten, Werndorf, St. Michael and Vienna. The range of services offered by Wenzel logistics includes intermodal transport, road truck transport and warehouse logistics. For more than 15 years, the private company has been offering its customers a comprehensive range of transport and logistics services, from taking over the goods, through storage and transport, to delivery as well as tailor-made solutions for special projects.

The rapidly growing company, founded in 1998 by Mr. Norbert Wenzel in Premstätten near Graz, was in the first few years exclusively active in the areas of warehousing and conventional truck traffic. In 2000 another branch was opened in St. Michael. After the official groundbreaking ceremony for the Cargo Center Graz (CCG) terminal, the company’s management made the decision to expand the existing business areas to include “intermodal transport”. In 2003, as a milestone in the rapid growth in the newly built Cargo Center Graz in Werndorf, in which Wenzel logistics GmbH acts as a partner, a warehouse with the latest standards with a storage area of 9,000 m² was moved into.

Since the beginning of 2004, Wenzel logistics GmbH has been operating an intermodal rail shuttle system in cooperation with W. Combi Cargo Transportlogistik GmbH & Co KG, which connects Styria, Carinthia, Slovenia and Hungary with the economic area of the Ruhr area and the Benelux countries.
In 2004, Wenzel logistics took the train to complement the road and installed an intermodal rail shuttle system in cooperation with Cargo Center Graz, which connects the Cargo Center Graz-Werndorf and Neuss. The economic areas associated with this are seen in the south of Styria, Carinthia, western Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, in the north Benelux, the Ruhr area and especially the connection between the western ports of Antwerp, Rotterdam and Styria and other destinations described above.

The block train route in Austria leads through ecologically sensitive alpine regions (Pyhrn route and Ennstal) and contributes enormously to relieving truck traffic.
In the first three years of the project, road traffic was relieved by more than 490 million ton kilometers.

Due to the increasingly strict legal restrictions (digital tachograph, tightened driving and rest times, increase in road pricing, rising fuel costs, etc.) and the increased volume of transit, this rail shuttle system is developing into a significant competitive advantage in the freight forwarding industry.

At the beginning of 2016, the intermodal offer was expanded to include a further destination: Wenzel logistics runs a new train connection to Frankfurt every day. After the Ruhr area / BeNeLux, this also connects the greater Frankfurt area with Styria (and neighboring countries).
